PDF tool
Extract pages from a PDF
Name the pages you want and get a new document containing only those. It is the mirror image of deleting pages, and it is the safer way round when the pages you are keeping are a small part of something confidential.

Output quality
Selected pages are copied at the object level, so they arrive with their text selectable, their images at original resolution and their vector graphics intact — an extract is exactly as good as the source. The new file carries only the resources its pages actually use, which is why extracting two pages from a 300-page report usually produces something dramatically smaller. Bookmarks and form fields are not carried across, since the output is a freshly built document.

Privacy: this tool does not upload your file
The file is never sent anywhere
This tool is JavaScript running in your tab. Your document is read from your disk into browser memory and never transmitted — not to us, not to anyone. It handles files up to 100 MB and 5,000 pages.
You can check this yourself
Load this page, turn off your internet connection, and run the tool. It still works. That is not a promise about our conduct — it is something you can verify in ten seconds.
Nothing to delete afterwards
There is no upload, no job record and no copy on any server, so there is no retention period. Close the tab and the working copy is gone with it.
No third parties involved
The PDF engine and its fonts are served from this domain rather than a public CDN, so no outside company sees that you used this page, or when.

Common use cases
Sending one section of a long contract
The recipient gets the three pages that concern them. The rest of the document is not in the file at all, so there is nothing to be found in it later.
Pulling a single form out of a bundle
Government packs often run to dozens of pages when you need one. Extracting it gives you something small enough to print and post.
Keeping the useful pages of a manual
A 200-page manual where four pages matter becomes a four-page reference you can actually find things in.

Troubleshooting
- I got the wrong pages
- Numbers count sheets in the file from 1, which often differs from the numbers printed on the pages — covers and roman-numbered front matter are the usual cause. Check the position in a viewer first.
- The extract is nearly as large as the original
- That points to a resource shared across the document, typically a large embedded font or an image reused on every page. Running the extract through Compress PDF afterwards usually helps.
- I wanted the pages in a different order
- Extraction always follows document order. Extract each piece separately, then use Merge PDF to arrange them however you like.

Frequently asked questions
Browse pdf toolsHow is this different from deleting pages?
Only in which set you name. Here you name what to keep; there you name what to remove. Reach for this one when you want a few pages out of many — naming three pages is quicker and much harder to get wrong than naming the ninety-seven you do not want.
Do the extracted pages keep their quality?
Yes, completely. Pages are copied as whole objects with their fonts, images and vector content, so the extract is indistinguishable from those pages in the original. Nothing is re-rendered or re-compressed.
Does the order I type them in matter?
No. Pages always come out in document order, so typing 8, 1-3 gives the same result as 1-3, 8. To reorder pages you would extract them separately and put them back together with Merge PDF.
Where does my file go when I use this tool?
Nowhere. This tool is JavaScript that runs inside your browser tab, so the file is read straight from your disk into memory on your own device and never sent to us. There is no upload, no job record and no copy to delete afterwards — close the tab and the working copy goes with it. You can confirm this yourself: load the page, disconnect from the internet, and the tool still works. It handles files up to 100 MB and 5,000 pages, and those limits come from what one browser tab can hold rather than from anything on our side.
