Output quality

Kept pages are copied at the object level, not re-rendered, so nothing about them changes — same text, same fonts, same image resolution, same vector artwork. File size drops roughly in proportion to what you removed, though not exactly: a font used only on a deleted page disappears with it, while one used throughout stays. Because the output is rebuilt from scratch, the document outline and any form fields are not carried over; if the file was a fillable form, the appearance survives but the fields do not.

    Salary details in an appendix, a covering page meant for someone else. Removing them means they are genuinely not in the file you send.

  • Getting rid of blank pages from a scan

    Double-sided scanning produces a blank page for every one-sided sheet. Naming them in one go is quicker than any manual approach.

  • Removing adverts or boilerplate

    Downloaded reports and manuals often carry pages nobody needs. Removing them makes the file smaller and easier to read.

Troubleshooting

The wrong pages were removed
Page numbers here count sheets in the file, starting at 1, which may not match the numbers printed on the pages. Check in a viewer which position the page occupies, then use that.
It refused to delete every page
A PDF with no pages is not a valid file, so at least one has to remain. If you meant to keep only a few pages, Extract Pages is the tool that says it the other way round.
My page range was rejected
Ranges have to run forwards and stay within the document. The message names the part it could not use — 9-2 is backwards, and page 40 does not exist in a 30-page file.

  • Is the deleted content really gone?

    Yes. A new document is built from the pages you kept, so the removed pages and their content are simply not present in the output. This is different from hiding or covering a page: anything merely covered up is still in the file and can be recovered by anyone who looks.

  • How do I say which pages to remove?

    The same notation as a print dialog: 1-3, 8, 12- removes pages one to three, page eight, and everything from page twelve onward. Page numbers refer to positions in the file, which is not always what is printed on the page — a document with a cover often has the number 1 printed on its second sheet.

  • Does the rest of the document change?

    No. Kept pages are copied across as complete objects, so text stays selectable, images keep their resolution, and the layout is untouched. Only the page count changes.

  • Where does my file go when I use this tool?

    Nowhere. This tool is JavaScript that runs inside your browser tab, so the file is read straight from your disk into memory on your own device and never sent to us.
