Why does my viewer rotate pages but not save it?

Most readers rotate only the view. Close the file and the setting is gone, and anyone you send it to sees the original orientation. This writes the rotation into the document itself, so it travels with the file.

Can I rotate only some pages?

Yes, and this is the common case — scanners flip alternate sheets, leaving half the document sideways. Type those page numbers into the pages box, such as 2, 4, 6-10, and the rest are left alone.

What if a page is already rotated?

The turn is added to the existing rotation rather than replacing it. A page already sitting at 270° that you turn by 90° ends up upright at 0°. Setting the angle absolutely instead would break every page that was already correct, which is a common flaw in tools that do this.

Does rotating affect quality or file size?

Troubleshooting

Pages that were already correct are now sideways: You rotated every page when only some needed it. Start from the original and name just the affected pages instead of leaving it on "all".
It rotated the wrong way: Run the original through again with the opposite direction. Rotating the output a further 180° also works and costs nothing in quality.
My viewer still shows the old orientation: Some readers cache an open document. Close it fully and reopen the downloaded file rather than refreshing the tab.
