MP4 to GIF
GIF works everywhere that will not accept a video file — chat apps, forum posts, old email clients. The catch is that GIF is a terrible way to store motion, so keeping the clip short and the size modest matters a lot.

Frequently asked questions
Browse video toolsWhy is my GIF so much bigger than the video?
GIF has no motion compression at all — every frame is stored as its own image, and it can only use 256 colours. A five-second clip that was 500 KB as MP4 can easily become 8 MB as GIF. Lowering the frame rate and width is the only real lever.
Why cap the clip at 30 seconds?
Because file size grows roughly in proportion to length, and a 30-second GIF at reasonable quality is already tens of megabytes. Beyond that the format stops being usable for anything.
Do you keep my files?
No. Uploads are deleted within 2 hours and finished downloads within 24 hours, whichever comes first. We never watch, inspect or share them.
Supported formats and limits
Accepts video/mp4, video/quicktime, video/webm. Produces image/gif. Files up to 100 MB, up to 0.5 minutes long.
Your files stay private
Uploads are stored under a random name with no connection to the file you sent, and they are never served from a public directory. Input files are deleted within two hours and finished downloads within 24 hours. Nobody looks at them, and nothing is shared with anyone.
