Convert PNG to WEBP

This is the conversion that lets you shrink a transparent image without flattening it. WebP supports a full alpha channel, so logos and cut-outs stay usable while getting dramatically lighter.

How to convert PNG to WEBP

  1. Upload your PNG. Drag it in or browse. Several files at once is fine.
  2. Set the quality. 85 is a good default for graphics with sharp edges.
  3. Download. Take the files one by one or as a ZIP.

Supported formats

Accepts image/png. Produces image/webp. Files up to 50 MB, and up to 80 megapixels.

Your files stay private

Uploads are stored under a random name with no connection to the file you sent, and they are never served from a public directory. Input files are deleted within two hours and finished downloads within 24 hours. Nobody looks at them, and nothing is shared with anyone.

Questions

Does transparency survive?
Yes. WebP has a proper alpha channel, so transparent and semi-transparent pixels are preserved exactly. This is the main reason to choose WebP over JPG for a PNG.
How much smaller will the file be?
Commonly 50–80% smaller for screenshots and UI graphics, and often more for large flat-colour images. PNG spends a lot of bytes storing what WebP can describe far more compactly.
Should I use lossy or lossless WebP?
This tool uses lossy WebP, which is right for almost every web use. If you need pixel-exact output — a design source file, a diagram destined for print — stay with PNG.
Do you keep my files?
No. Files are stored on our server only while the conversion runs. Uploads are deleted within 2 hours and finished downloads within 24 hours, whichever comes first. We never open, inspect or share them.
